UCI Swimmers Top Pomona-Pitzer, 149-62
The UC Irvine men’s swimming team defeated Pomona-Pitzer, 149-62, in its last meet of the season at Irvine.
The Anteaters (6-4) were led by senior John Morgan, who won the 200-meter butterfly (2 minutes 7.24 seconds) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:11.98). Teammate Mauro Macchi, a sophomore, won the 100 free (49.27) and took second in the 50 free (22.44).
UCI senior Jim Martin took second in the 500 free (5:09.86) and third in the 1,000 free (10.41.30).
Pomona-Pitzer was led by junior Steve Smith, who won the 200 backstroke (1:59.97) and finished second in the 200 individual medley (2:03.09).
