Kathryn G. Thompson of Irvine has been selected as the Woman of the Year for the 37th State Senate District by Sen. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach).
Thompson will be recognized along with other California women at the state Senate and Assembly on Monday, a spokeswoman for Bergeson said.
Thompson is president of her own firm, A & C Properties. She also is on the board of the College of Medicine at UC Irvine, is a director of the Orange County Performing Arts Center and serves on the board of Orangewood, the county's emergency shelter for abused and abandoned children. She recently became one of the first women given a Good Scout award by the Boys Scouts of America.
"Kathryn Thompson is a very special lady, and the diversity of her talents is a gift she gives gracefully to her community. I am proud to have the opportunity to recognize her," Bergeson said in making the announcement.
