Pablo Morales wrapped up his collegiate career on another record-breaking note Saturday to pace Stanford to its third straight NCAA men’s swimming and diving title.

Stanford finished with 374 points. USC was second with 296, Florida third with 293 and California fourth with 269. Host Texas was fifth with 257.

Morales broke his American record in the 200-yard butterfly. His 1:42.60 shaved .25 of a second off the record he set in 1985. It was Morales’ fourth consecutive national title in the event and gave him 11 individual NCAA titles, one more than previous record-holder John Naber of USC.

Morales also won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly in this year’s meet.

California’s Matt Biondi set an American record in the 100-yard freestyle, completing his second straight freestyle sweep at the NCAA meet. He also anchored California to a come-from-behind win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Biondi won the 100 in 41.8 seconds, breaking his previous record of 41.87.

Earlier in the meet, Biondi broke his own American records in the 50-yard and 200-yard freestyles.

Jeff Kostoff became a double-winner for the Cardinal by repeating as champion in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 14:47.75. Kostoff won the 400-yard individual medley Friday.
