$2.5-Million Tag Put on Face Lift of Foothill Blvd.
La Canada Flintridge’s long-planned beautification of Foothill Boulevard would cost about $2.5 million, according to a preliminary proposal presented Monday night before the City Council.
The costs include almost $1 million for installing brick and tile sidewalks, $130,000 for craftsman lanterns and other lighting, $276,000 for landscaping and $221,000 for street furniture.
The proposal was drawn up by Lawrence R. Moss & Associates, a landscape architecture firm that the city has previously consulted.
La Canada City Council members requested the cost outline some months ago so they could start studying ways to finance the proposed improvements. The city has long discussed the need to upgrade Foothill Boulevard as a shopping and commercial district.
