Unfortunately, Too Many Others Share Mr. Campanis’ View
I found Mr. Campanis’ responses to Ted Koppel’s questions (regarding the qualifications of blacks to hold front office jobs in baseball) to be most entertaining. Mr. Campanis’ comment about blacks not having the buoyancy to be good swimmer has to be a classic.
All I can say is that Campanis has probably missed his mark by being a baseball executive all these years. I will always wonder what he could have accomplished had he been typecast as Archie Bunker in “All in the Family.”
