Suns Reported to Be the Focus of a Drug Investigation by NBA

The Phoenix Suns reportedly are the target of a drug investigation by the NBA and one of the team’s owners said the club has been told by the league commissioner “to say nothing” about the matter.

Team, league and law-enforcement officials either declined comment or said they knew nothing of such a probe.

The Arizona Republic said that during the past month the NBA had requested a videotape of a Suns’ game and that investigators have interviewed members of the organization.

“We have been told by NBA Commissioner David Stern to say nothing under penalty of execution,” said Richard Bloch, a Suns’ owner. Jerry Colangelo, the team’s general manager, said: “When you are told you can’t say a word, you can’t say a word.”
