Drug Workshops planned for JCs

A series of three substance abuse awareness workshops for California community college intercollegiate athletic programs will be held in May, state Athletic Commissioner Walt Rilliet announced this week.

The workshops, designed to initiate anti drug-abuse programs on junior colleges, are being sponsored by the Ford Motor Co.

Said Thomas Clements, Foothill College president and chair of the Substance Abuse Task Force for the state’s Commission on Athletics: “Our research has told us that we need to find methods of educating our students. It is our hope that these workshops will provide our college substance abuse awareness programs necessary information to coordinate a successful campus program.”
