Parker Johnstone Takes Lead Early, Wins Sedan Race

Former Renault Cup champion Parker Johnstone, driving an Acura Integra, led nearly all the way to win the 45-minute International Sedan race here Sunday.

Johnstone, an instructor at the Bob Bondurant driving school at Sears Point Raceway, took the lead from teammate Doug Peterson on the fourth lap and never relinquished the front spot. It was his first win in an International Sedan race--which is a new name for the old Champion Spark Plug Challenge series.

Two Mazda 323s, driven by Dennis Shaw and Dave Jolly, finished second and third, a little over two seconds back of Johnstone, who averaged 92.671 m.p.h. for 71 miles.
