NBC’s “The Cosby Show,” ABC’s Sunday news interview program “This Week With David Brinkley,” and Jim Henson and his Muppets were among 26 winners of George Foster Peabody Awards for distinguished broadcasting, announced Monday. CBS won the largest number--three to CBS News and two shared by CBS Entertainment. NBC Radio News received one award, while ABC Entertainment shared an award. The awards, given since 1941, are administered by the University of Georgia School of Journalism and Mass Communication and will be formally presented May 6 in New York. Among the other recipients: WQED-TV of Pittsburgh; the National Geographic Society; MacNeil-Lehrer Productions; the British Broadcasting Corp. and Thames Television International.
