Meanwhile, Back at Dodger Stadium

Share

At a recent Dodger game, I sadly watched two 10-year-old boys drink their very large sodas and continually horse play with each other during the playing of our National Anthem. It wasn’t the boys who upset me, boys will be boys; it was their parents. Not once did they do or say anything to stop the boys from playing around.

Most people seemed bored or too embarrassed to share this brief moment of national respect. President Reagan is correct: We are not teaching values or respect and that is very evident in the stands of most major sporting events.

Oh, yes, I wonder if those two young men will grow up and enlist in the Marine Corps? I hope not.
