Big changes for the Sequoia Quartet. With the departure of founding violist James Dunham, off to join the Cleveland Quartet, comes an announcement from the Sequoia that the respected locally based group will take a sabbatical starting this summer, “until future plans and prospects are clarified.” According to Eleanore Glover of the Sequoia Quartet Foundation, this does not necessarily mean it’s curtains for the 14-year-old ensemble. “The foundation will remain intact and will assist in developing plans for the future,” she said. Before Dunham’s exit, the Sequoia had carried on through three personnel changes in the last two years.
