Grecian Flight Wins by 3 in Black-Eyed Susan
Grecian Flight, a two-time stakes winner this year against New York-breds but up the track in two starts more recently against open company, made a big move on the turn Friday and won the $115,000 Black-Eyed Susan for 3-year-old fillies at Pimlico.
Bal Du Bois, ridden by Chris McCarron, finished second, three lengths behind, and it was another 2 1/2 lengths back to Arctic Cloud, who was third after surviving a foul claim by Paul Nicol, the rider of the fourth-place horse, Notastar.
Grecian Flight, ridden by Craig Perret, paid $22.40 to win, running the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44 1/5.
Oh So Precious, who had been second, three lengths ahead of Grecian Flight, in the Comely at Aqueduct in New York May 3, was the 8-5 favorite Friday but finished sixth in the 10-horse field.
