Covina : Budget Increase Seen
The City Council is expected next week to receive a preliminary budget that calls for spending $23.27 million next year. City staff last week submitted to council members a tentative budget about $2 million higher than the current $21.3 million budget.
City officials say next year’s estimated expenses include a one-time expenditure of $2.19 million to build a 5-million-gallon reservoir. Construction is expected to begin in the fall. General city operating services would rise 3% under the tentative budget, which the council will discuss at a special meeting June 8.
