Two Golfers From Orange County Advance to Amateur Quarterfinals at Pebble Beach

Two Orange County players, Bob May of La Habra and Perry Parker of Tustin, advanced to today’s quarterfinals of the 76th California Amateur Golf Championship at Pebble Beach.

In Wednesday’s second round, May defeated James Kim of Van Nuys, 2 and 1. In Wednesday’s first round, May beat Brad Larsen of Sausalito, 2 up.

Parker defeated Steve Bogan of Placentia, 4 and 3, in the second round after defeating John O’Neill of Arcadia, 1 up, in the first.

Brothers Eric and Chris Wood of Corona del Mar were eliminated in the first round. Eric Wood was defeated on the 20th hole by John Childs of Alameda, and Chris Wood was defeated by John Kennaday of Pacific Grove, 4 and 2.

Bobby Lasken of Whittier, who won medalist honors Wednesday, defeated Tom Culligan of San Mateo, 9 and 7, in the second round. Lasken, a senior at UCLA, defeated Earl Morley of Rancho Mirage, 6 and 5, in the first round.
