PR People See Need for ‘Educating’ Clients

Share

Thanks so much from the beleaguered PR people who are constantly in the process of educating clients as to what public relations actually means.

One client was constantly asking me to “get some free advertising.” I would give them my standard lecture: “Why don’t you do something newsworthy, and I’ll see that this information gets out into the proper media to reach the people you should for this particular message.”

Another favorite was: “Tell them how good we are.” The standard lecture in reply was: “Why don’t you first do something good, and then we’ll talk about it and then people will know how good you are.”
