Baker-Finch Shoots 66 to Win by Four
Australian Ian Baker-Finch padded his lead with a 5-under-par 66 Sunday and scored a four-stroke victory in the $411,000 Polaroid Cup Golf Digest tournament.
It was the 26-year-old Baker-Finch’s first victory in Japan and eighth in his career.
Baker-Finch, who started Sunday’s final round one stroke ahead of Kazushige Kohno of Japan, shot five birdies on the 6,770-yard, par 71 Tomei Country Club course and finished with a 9-under-par 275. First place was worth $73,900.
Kohno shot a 69 for a 279 and received $41,000 for second place.
Graham Marsh of Australia shot a 67 and shared third place at 281 with Tateo Ozaki and Masanobu Kimura, both of Japan. Each earned $21,300.
American Donald Weibring carded a 68 for an even-par 284 and finished 11th.
