Kings, Looking for More Offense and Wins, Play Jets

Part of the offensive problem for the Kings, who will play the Winnipeg Jets tonight in the first game of a two-game set at the Winnipeg Arena, is that they have only one productive line.

In the absence of Bernie Nicholls, expected to be out for at least two more weeks with a broken finger, the Kings have a 1-5 record and have scored a league-low 13 goals. Jimmy Carson has scored five, and his linemates, Luc Robitaille and Dave Taylor, have accounted for three others.

“We’re putting a great burden on the Carson line,” Coach Mike Murphy said Wednesday night after the Kings had lost their fourth straight game, 6-2, at Edmonton. “They have to produce every night, or we’re not going to score many goals.”

Winnipeg has a 3-2 record.
