CALL OF THE NATIVES
The article on Ed Peterson and the work of the Theodore Payne Foundation has me troubled. For every seed that Peterson collects to sell to others, there is one less seed available to replace what little greenery we have left in the area.
The subtitle (“Gathering Wildflower Seeds in the Mountains and Deserts, Ed Peterson Preserves Southern California’s Plant Heritage”) says that Peterson is helping to preserve Southern California’s plant heritage. How? It seems to me that he is helping to steal our heritage for profit.
