The only “official” event to mark Irving Berlin’s 100th birthday will be an all-star concert May 11 at Carnegie Hall. The concert, dubbed “Top Hat, White Tie & Tails: America Celebrates Irving Berlin’s 100th Birthday,” will be taped for later broadcast by CBS. Among the stars: Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Leonard Bernstein and Isaac Stern.

Executive producer of the show--which Berlin has sanctioned but which he is not expected to attend--is Don Mischer, who has produced the Tony Awards and the Kennedy Center Honors. Director is Walter C. Miller, who has directed the Tony and Grammy Awards telecasts. The program will be a benefit for Carnegie Hall and the ASCAP Foundation.
