At least 40 people, including six children, were injured when more than 20 bombs set by robbers exploded Friday at a rural fair in the village of Kaliakandipara, about 50 miles northwest of Dhaka, police said Saturday.

“Some miscreants exploded bombs to loot the carnival,” one policeman said. Officers said that many stalls set up by traders were robbed, but that the amount of money and goods taken is not known. The robbers escaped.
