San Diego
A 40-year-old aircraft mechanic with the U.S. Army Reserve jumped to his death from the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge Monday, the coroner’s office said.
James D. McCutcheon, of Stayton, Ore., was traveling with an unidentified friend across the bridge when he got out of the vehicle and jumped at 9:20 a.m., Deputy Coroner Charles Kelley said.
McCutcheon’s body was found by Harbor Police 20 minutes later, Kelley said.
Kelley said McCutcheon was on temporary active duty with the Army Reserve.
On Sunday, a 24-year-old man jumped from the bridge about 8 a.m. and survived, San Diego police said. Brian Black was listed in fair condition at UC San Diego Medical Center Monday night, a hospital spokeswoman said. He suffered head and lung injuries.
