Notre Dame 9, St. Genevieve 0--Sophomore Becca Berline recorded her fifth shutout and the Knights (12-2 overall) racked up a season-high 17 hits to improve to 2-0 in San Fernando Valley League play at St. Genevieve.

Berline (10-2) surrendered two hits and had 12 strikeouts. She also was 3 for 4, including a double and a run batted in.

Marie Dalkas was 3 for 4, including a two-run single to highlight the Knights’ four-run sixth inning. Teammate Kim Fischer was 3 for 4 and Tracy Benn, who was 2 for 4 with an RBI, extended her hitting streak to six games. Benn had three hits Wednesday against Alemany.

Agoura 13, Nordhoff 0--Freshman Melissa Thatcher fired a no-hitter and had four hits to lead the Chargers (10-5, 5-1) in a Frontier League game at Nordhoff.

Thatcher (10-5) walked one, hit one batter and struck out nine for her first no-hitter. She had support from 12 Agoura hits, including three by Jill Hartwig and two each by Tamara Dulansky and Michelle McComb. Dulansky had a solo homer in the fourth inning.

BOYS’ TRACK

Taft 99, Cleveland 25--Jonathan Hart and Marlon Rodriguez each won two events as host Taft dominated the West Valley League meet.

The Toreadors (4-1, 3-1) won 13 of 15 events, including both relays.

Hart won the 220- and 440-yard dashes in 23.6 seconds and 54.5. Rodriguez won the mile in 4:51.2 and the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 8 inches.

Lawrence Killens (21-0 1/2 in the long jump) and David Feinstein (11.4 in the 100) added victories for Taft.

Poly 112, Grant 14--Four Parrots won at least two events as Poly rolled to its 26th consecutive East Valley League dual-meet victory at Grant.

Jumping with a new pole, Poly’s Kelly Hernandez won the pole vault with a personal best of 13-6, improving his previous high by two feet. He also won the 330-yard intermediate hurdles in 43.8.

Teammates Suthong Tiengerd (100 and 220), Shannon Haas (440 and 880) and Duke Jacobs (120-yard high hurdles, high jump and triple jump) were also multiple winners for Poly (4-2, 3-0).

GIRLS’ TRACK

Taft 87, Cleveland 21--The Cavaliers’ Althea Fuller won the 100 meters (13.3) and 220 yards (27.2), but host Taft (4-1, 3-1) took every other event in the West Valley League meet.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Westlake 15, Channel Islands 3--Darin Pleasant, Westlake’s No. 1 singles player, did not lose a game in three sets to lead the Warriors in a Marmonte League match at Channel Islands.

Westlake’s No. 1 doubles team of Todd Robinson and Mike Studebaker swept its three sets by identical 6-1 scores. The Warriors’ fifth consecutive win improved their record to 12-2, 7-0.

Burbank 16, Burroughs 2--Mark Nielsen, Burbank’s No. 1 singles player, won all of his matches by 6-0 scores and teammate Tom McDonald, the Bulldogs’ No. 2 player, also swept his matches.

Burbank, the No. 6-ranked team in the Southern Section 3-A Division poll, is 14-1, 4-0.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Loyola d. Alemany, 15-1, 15-11, 15-12-- Jim Klein (eight kills) and Duncan Blackman (seven kills) led Loyola to a Del Rey League win at Alemany. Alemany (8-6, 4-3) was led by Brian Brinket with eight kills. Loyola is 7-0 in league play.
