The Night Stalker trial of Richard Ramirez will begin June 30, a judge said today after being assured by Ramirez’s lawyer that the defense will be ready to proceed in the long-delayed case.

“I’ve conferred with my client and we’re ready to begin trial June 30,” said Daniel Hernandez. “That’s very encouraging, Mr. Hernandez,” said Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan, who has faced repeated requests for delays in the multiple murder case. Ramirez is charged in Los Angeles County with 13 counts of murder and 30 other felonies allegedly committed during a rampage of nighttime intrusions and sadistic attacks in 1984 and 1985.
