Eaton May Have Shed Some Light
One of the saddest sights in sports is watching an aging hero, skills diminished, trying to maintain his dignity while competing against much younger athletes.
I have marveled at Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s apparent discovery of eternal youth. This season he has had many moments of glory, and his overall performance, while not up to his usual standards, has still been good enough to rank him among the better centers in the league.
However, when Kareem finds himself outrun and, at times, outmaneuvered by Mark Eaton, he should recognize that the time has come. I hope that Kareem does not make us feel sorry for him next year.
