Garcia Stays Unbeaten With 2nd-Round KO
San Fernando heavyweight Alex Garcia scored his ninth consecutive victory as a professional, knocking out Rodney Stockton of Los Angeles at two minutes, 48 seconds of the second round of a scheduled eight-round main event at the Aviation Gym in Redondo Beach on Friday.
Garcia, who weighed in at 221 1/2 pounds, has won nine fights without a loss, five by knockout. Stockton, 193 pounds, is 3-5.
Garcia was outboxed by Stockton in the first round, but he floored his opponent with a left hook in the second round.
Stockton got up only to run into another hook and fall face first onto the canvas.
Referee Fritz Werner stopped the bout without a count.
