Whites Not Allowed?

Share

The problem for Freddie Jackson, aside from the fact that George Michael can sing the pants off this bellyaching, thin-voiced egomaniac, is that Michael is white. He can’t stand it that a white boy is beating him at his own game.

Jackson saying that he has more of a right to sing soul because he’s black and grew up eating collard greens is like my saying I have more of a right than Jessye Norman to sing Mozart because I’m white and grew up eating bratwurst.

If being accepted by a white audience means being ostracized by the black audience, isn’t that racism? Why isn’t Teena Marie upsetting blacks?
