CBS Will Replace Snyder With Butkus
CBS will announce today that Dick Butkus will replace Jimmy (The Greek) Snyder on “The NFL Today” pregame show this football season. Snyder was fired at the end of last season after making racially offensive remarks.
CBS has also announced its National Football League broadcasting teams for the upcoming season. The new commentators are Dan Fouts, who will work with Dick Stockton, and Gary Fencik, who will work with Jim Lampley.
A new play-by-play announcer will be Greg Gumbel, former ESPN announcer and brother of Bryant Gumbel of NBC’s “Today” show. Gumbel, who works for the Madison Square Garden Cable Network, will be teamed with Will McDonough.
Ken Stabler will return for a second year as a commentator and will be paired with James Brown.
