British pole vaulter Jeff Gutteridge has been suspended from competition after testing positive for anabolic steroids, The Times of London reported.
Gutteridge, who is hoping to qualify for the Summer Olympics, is awaiting the results of a follow-up test that would lead to a life ban if it also proves positive.
Under the International Amateur Athletic Federation’s drugs rule, first offenders automatically are suspended for two years but can be reinstated after an application by their national associations.
