Local News in Brief : Buena Park : Man Kills Himself After Scuffle With Woman
A Los Angeles man shot himself to death Wednesday morning after he attempted to force a Buena Park woman into his car at gunpoint, police said.
Bruce Lee Johnson, 24, was found dead next to his car in the carport of the apartment complex in the 5800 block of Kingman Avenue, police said.
The woman, who was not identified, was an acquaintance of the man and had obtained a restraining order to keep him away from her, Officer Rich McMillen said.
Police went to the apartment complex about 4 a.m. after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. As an officer arrived, he saw a flash from the muzzle of a gun and heard a single shot, McMillen said. The officer began cordoning off the area when he heard another shot, McMillen said.
Officers found Johnson next to his car, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to McMillen. Police also found a gas can with a paper towel wick in front of the woman’s apartment.
