Blaze Injures Firefighter in Van Nuys
Fire raced through the top floor of a three-story office building in Van Nuys late Wednesday, shooting flames 40 feet high and injuring one firefighter, Los Angeles fire officials said.
The fire broke out about 8 p.m. on the third floor of the Howard Building in the 6900 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, said Gilbert Espinoza, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A firefighter, who was not identified, was sent to Sherman Oaks Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. About 70 firefighters fought the blaze for two hours before bringing it under control, Espinoza said.
The cause of the fire had not been determined.
