Local News in Brief : Hospital Lends Child Car Seats
Pediatric clients of Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance may borrow car seats for children, in a program to increase awareness of child car safety.
State law requires that any child under the age of four or under 40 pounds must be in an approved car seat while in an automobile. The hospital has 24 car seats in three types--infant, convertible for infants and children, and booster seats--that may be borrowed for 30 to 90 days by calling the maternal child health department at 543-6873 or the pediatric department at 543-5810.
A $10 deposit is required. When seats are returned, $5 is refunded; the other half goes toward the upkeep of seats and purchase of new ones.
