Local News in Brief : Nurse Charged in Hospital Drug Case
An emergency room nurse at Queen of Angels Medical Center was charged Wednesday with signing out drugs for patients without prescriptions and falsifying hospital records to cover it up.
Michael B. Wrigley, 24, was charged by the Los Angeles city attorney’s office with 24 misdemeanor violations of the state health and safety code.
City Atty. James Hahn said Wrigley came under investigation by the California Department of Consumer Affairs last November after pain killing drugs fell from his pocket while he was suffering an epileptic seizure at the hospital.
Hahn said Wrigley had worked in the emergency room about 18 months and had been responsible for recording charges for medication given to patients.
