Aztecs Lose Booker for Up to 10 Days
Tommy Booker, San Diego State sophomore running back, missed practice Wednesday with a sprained left shoulder and could be out for as long as a week to 10 days, trainer Don Kaverman said.
Kaverman said it is too early to tell if Booker’s injury will keep him from playing in the season opener Sept. 3 against UCLA in the Rose Bowl. Booker was injured in practice Tuesday.
In other news, Ron Slack, who was switched to safety at the start of preseason camp, has returned to his former position at running back.
San Diego State University athletic director Fred Miller announced a reorganization of the Aztec sports administrative staff after associate athletic director Marilyn Johnson’s resignation.
Assistant athletic director Jim Herrick has been promoted to acting associate athletic director for business affairs. Associate athletic directors Al Luginbill and John Wadas have been designated as senior associate athletic directors. Luginbill will be responsible for football operations and duties relating to student-athlete affairs. Wadas will supervise the department’s external affairs. He also will coordinate the men’s basketball operations.
