Toxic Spill Closes River

NATCHEZ, Miss. —
A barge ran aground and spilled 210,000 gallons of toxic, flammable styrene into the Mississippi River early today, forcing the Coast Guard to close a 49-mile stretch of the river as a safety precaution. The Coast Guard closed the river from a point near Hutchins Landing, Miss., about five miles south of the accident, to a section near Angola, La.
