Vreni Schneider continued her amazing string of success Sunday, winning a World Cup women’s slalom race at Mellau, Austria, for her third victory in 3 days and her ninth of the season.

This time, the 24-year-old Swiss took advantage of another competitor’s misfortune.

Tamara McKinney of Squaw Valley, Calif., who led after the first heat, straddled a gate in the second run and was disqualified.

Schneider has won all four women’s slaloms this season, all four giant slaloms and a combined.
