Cutting Funds for Those Who Help Illegal Aliens
I want to be clear on this last ruling: Mary Hispanic, pregnant, homeless with three children will be able to have free medical and dental services for herself and her children.
The children won’t be able to attend school, for lack of shoes and decent clothing that a nonprofit agency used to be able to provide. The children will have dental care and the proper immunizations, but will be ill because of lack of good nutrition (food can no longer be provided).
The mother, in spite of important prenatal care, will not have a healthy pregnancy or possibly a live birth, because there is no shelter, food or clothing that can be provided this family in this city that requires proof of U.S. citizenship.
Is the next step to refuse funds to any agency that provides food, shelter, clothing to any persons not able to show city of Costa Mesa residence? What a great idea! We can now get rid of the homeless!
I am a business owner, taxpaying resident of Costa Mesa. I am a Soroptimist who supports financially and personally the Interfaith Shelter and SOS, among other nonprofit agencies in this city. I resent and am ashamed of the elected officials of Costa Mesa who passed this ruling.
I commend Mary Hornbuckle and Sandy Genis for their votes against this ruling, which discriminates against human beings! It is time to reconsider your votes, Buffa, Amburgey and Glasgow. Members of service clubs like the Soroptimists will certainly reconsider their votes!
