Karen Shanley, head of the dance department at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, has been named to a dance activities advisory council at Cal State Long Beach, where she will join Joffrey Ballet director Gerald Arpino; Bella Lewitzky, director of the Los Angeles-based Lewitzky Dance Company, and Donald McKayle, newly appointed professor of dance at UC Irvine. Shanley, who came to OCC in 1976, has danced with the New Orleans Ballet, Jeff Slayton and Dancers, the Gloria Newman Dance Company, and LTD/Unlimited Dance Company.
