Ex-U.S. Official Sues Hughes: A whistle-blower lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court by a former high-ranking government official who oversaw contracts at Hughes Aircraft Co. alleging that the company’s Ground Systems Group in Fullerton overcharged the government by $70 million between 1983 and 1989. Patrick M. Kelley, former chief of the contracts division for the Pentagon office that manages government operations at the plant, filed the suit under seal last August. The case was unsealed Jan. 16 and released by Kelley’s attorney Tuesday. (Filed August 14, 1989, Case No. CV89-4832)
