SPORTSCOPE : ‘Dr. 360’ Makes Waves in Magazine
Hermosa Beach resident Joe Wolfson appears on the inside front cover of the May/June issue of BodyBoarding magazine, available on news racks now. Wolfson, 40, director of community services for the city of Carson, is better known to bodyboarders as “Dr. 360.” In the magazine advertisement for a Hawaiian water sports company, Wolfson is seen riding one of the company’s new line of bodyboards down a 20-foot wave at his vacation home on the southwest Pacific coast of Mexico.
The second annual “Tip-A-King” benefit for cystic fibrosis research takes place Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at the MGM FilmLand Centre. Bruce McNall, owner of the Los Angeles Kings hockey team, will join several Kings players, including Wayne Gretzky, Dave Taylor and Larry Robinson, at the event. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Great Western Forum or TicketMaster outlets, including Music Plus or May Co. The FilmLand Centre is at 10000 Washington Blvd. in Culver City.
