Royal Lines’ Tsu’s Dawning, third as the odds-on favorite in the Santa Catalina Stakes three weeks ago, will try to return to his winning ways on Wednesday as one of six 3-year-olds in the $75,000-added Bradbury Stakes at Santa Anita.

Santa Catalina runner-up Senagalaise and recent allowance winner Assyrian Pirate are among the challengers in the 1 1/8-mile race.

Tsu’s Dawning, a son of Tsunami Slew, broke his maiden in December on his second try and came back later that month to win in allowance company at Santa Anita. In that mile race, he was two lengths better than eventual Los Feliz Stakes winner Land Rush and six in front of third-place Assyrian Pirate. He was sent away at 1-to-3 when trainer Eddie Gregson saddled him for the Santa Catalina, but settled for the show by less than a length.

With six starters, the Bradbury will offer a gross purse of $80,475; the winner will receive $46,725.

In post position order, the field has Myung Kwan Cho’s Video Ranger, Eddie Delahoussaye riding at 115 pounds; Tsu’s Dawning, Chris McCarron, 120; Southern Nevada Racing Stable’s Assyrian Pirate, Martin Pedroza, 120; Jan, Mace and Samantha Siegel’s Senagalaise, Gary Stevens, 115; Oak Cliff Stable’s Heisman, Corey Black, 115, and Molasky and Sullivan’s T.V. Rebel, Pat Valenzuela, 115.

Senagalaise has won three of 10 career starts, one of three since arriving in California after a 2-year-old campaign in Florida.

The local victory came against claimers on an off track, but trainer Brian Mayberry stepped him up to restricted stakes company for his next start in the Santa Catalina. Senagalaise grabbed the lead in the stretch, only to yield to Music Prospector by a nose at the wire.

Assyrian Pirate has won two of his last three starts, including a four-length victory in allowance company in his last race.
