Cypress Coach Goes for 500th Victory Tonight
Cypress College Coach Don Johnson goes for his 500th victory tonight in one of three games involving local community college teams in the Southern California men’s basketball regional playoffs. Rancho Santiago and Golden West also play second-round games.
Cypress (27-3) plays host to Oxnard (17-14). Johnson comes into the game with a record of 499-208 in 23 seasons.
Rancho Santiago (27-3) plays host to Los Angeles Harbor (23-12) and Golden West (22-10) is at Los Angeles Valley (22-10).
The winners of tonight’s game advance to Saturday’s third round. Saturday’s winners advance to the state tournament March 8-10 at UC Irvine’s Bren Center.
