Darcy Arreola of the Nike Coast Track...
Darcy Arreola of the Nike Coast Track Club and Marion Jones of Rio Mesa High will compete in the Jack in the Box Invitational at UCLA’s Drake Stadium, May 20.
Arreola, who ranked 10th in the nation in the 1,500 meters last year, will run the mile against a field that includes 1988 Olympic 1,500-meter champion Paula Ivan of Romania, U.S. Olympians PattiSue Plumer and Vicki Huber, and Teena Colebrook of Great Britain and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Jones is the national record-holder among 14-year-olds in the 200 (23.80 seconds).
Dawn Sowell, the 1989 NCAA champion in the 100 and 200 while at Louisiana State, is the top entrant with a personal best of 10.78. She was ranked second in the world rankings last season.
Jones has a personal best of 11.5 (11.76 automatic) in the 100.
