NATION : Bush Imagemaker Lists Worth in 1989 at $4 Million or More

Holdings in land, casinos and advertising ranked presidential imagemaker Sig Rogich at or near the top of the White House staff in terms of wealth last year, according to documents released today.

Rogich produced many of the commercials that helped George Bush win the presidency in 1988.

Rogich’s financial disclosure form for 1989 shows assets valued at $4 million or more, including his Las Vegas advertising firm, from which he received $496,617 in income, and interests in radio stations, mining companies and property in at least five states.

Rogich, who holds the formal title of assistant to the President for special activities and initiatives, is responsible for the visual and thematic aspects of presidential events.

His disclosure report listed the receipt of two gifts last year: $1,500 in contributions from his employees to buy a camera and two bottles of vodka, two 2 oz. cans of black caviar and a book on impressionism from Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev.
