Resort Designing Booms: Designing resorts is a booming business for some Orange County architects. One of them--Wimberly, Allison, Tong and Goo--recently purchased larger quarters in Newport Beach’s Bay Corporate Center.
The firm paid the Garrick Trust $3.7 million for a 25,000-square-foot building on University Drive. The building will be the firm’s West Coast headquarters.
Meanwhile, Peridian, a landscape architect in Irvine, said it will design more than 16 acres around a new 18-story Ritz-Carlton hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 500-room Ritz-Carlton Jakarta is scheduled to open in 1993. Peridian designed the grounds of 13 other Ritz-Carltons, including the upscale resort in Dana Point.
