Ted Turner Wins Top Prize: Ted Turner, chairman and president of Turner Broadcasting Systems Inc., will receive the 1990 Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism and Telecommunications, Arizona State University announced Monday. The award is presented each year by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunication to an individual deemed to have made outstanding contributions to journalism and telecommunication. Atlanta-based Turner Broadcasting’s operations include WTBS-TV, Cable News Network and Turner Network Television. The award will be presented Nov. 7.
