THE SIDELINES : Hornets Sign Top Draftee Gill
Kendall Gill, the Charlotte Hornets’ top draft pick, suited up for practice today after the team announced that it had signed him to a four-year contract.
The signing ends a five-day holdout by the 6-foot-5 guard from Illinois that featured a physical confrontation last week between Hornets executive Allan Bristow and Gill’s agent, Arn Tellem.
Financial terms of the pact were not released, but published reports have estimated that Gill’s annual pay will be about $2 million in salary and incentives.
On Tuesday, NBA Commissioner David Stern said no action would be taken against Bristow after his apology and offer to pay medical expenses for Tellem resulting from Thursday’s incident.
