HUNTINGTON BEACH : Mountford Leading Fund-Raising Race
City Planning Commission member Edward G. Mountford, making his first bid for the City Council, is the leading fund-raiser among a field of 10 candidates, according to a mandatory campaign finance document filed with the city clerk’s office.
Through Sept. 30, Mountford reported garnering $22,605, almost entirely from cash donations. He listed cash on hand of $9,921, also the highest among those vying for four council seats.
Mountford’s fund raising topped Councilwoman Grace H. Winchell, who reported collecting $20,478 in cash, loans and non-monetary contributions, the most among candidates who filed their reports last week. Although Mountford’s financial report was not released until this week, it was postmarked by the Friday deadline.
Mountford was appointed to the Planning Commission by Councilman John Erskine, one of three councilmen who are not seeking reelection Nov. 6.
