Los Angeles : Museum Hires Specialist
Martin Chapman, a British specialist in European decorative arts, has been appointed associate curator of decorative arts at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Chapman, who was formerly a curator in the metalwork department of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, has a special interest in gilt and ormolu (imitation gold) bronzes.
Chapman, who was educated in England and France, will be responsible for the museum’s Gilbert collection of gold and silver.
The Gilbert collection includes choice gold and silver objects made in Great Britain, Europe, the United States and India during the 15th through 19th centuries.
