The Lakers’ 1990-1991 National Basketball Assn. season -opener tops today’s sports viewing choices with the Bo Jackson’s return to Kansas City doing the same on Sunday.

Both the Lakers and NBC hope to get off to a successful start at 12:30 p.m. today on Channels 4, 36 and 39. The San Antonio Spurs provide the opposition in Mike Dunleavy’s Laker coaching debut.

In college football, No. 1 Virginia plays what figures to be its only difficult game before bowl time when it takes on No. 16 Georgia Tech at 11 a.m. today on Channels 2 and 8.

Washington can assure itself of its first Pacific 10 championship and Rose Bowl bid in nine years today if the Huskies can beat Arizona in Seattle and UCLA loses at Oregon. Both games will be televised. Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42 will air Washington-Arizona at 12:30 p.m. and Prime Ticket will show the Bruins and Ducks delayed at 7 p.m.

In other games involving teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25, No. 2 Notre Dame will seek its 27th consecutive victory over Navy (9 a.m., Prime Ticket); No. 3 Nebraska will continue its bid for a national championship against No. 9 Colorado (1 p.m., ESPN); No. 4 Auburn will visit Florida (4:30 p.m. ESPN, 10:30 p.m. SportsChannel) while No. 21 USC will plays host to California (3:30 p.m., Prime Ticket).

Bo is back in the city of his baseball team (the Royals) when the Raiders (6-1) and Chiefs (4-3) open Sunday’s National Football League telecasts at 10 a.m. on Channels 4, 36 and 39. KCBS Channel 2 will air the 1 p.m. game between the NFC Central Division-leading Chicago Bears (6-1) and the now-slumping Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-4).
