FULLERTON : Council OKs More Hangars at Airport
The City Council has approved a plan to add hangars to Fullerton Municipal Airport.
Under the plan, 11 hangars, five executive hangars and 27 sunshades--which are similar to carports--would be added on the north side of the airport. The estimated cost of the project is $700,000.
“We have about 100 people on our waiting list” for hangars, said Roland Elder, director of the airport.
The airport has 27 sunshades and 15 hangars. Monthly rental rates for the structures range from $150 for a sunshade to $670 for an executive hangar.
An environmental impact study must be prepared and a consultant hired to make sure that the project does not violate the Airport Master Plan, said Elder, adding that if everything goes as scheduled, construction on the hangars could begin by early next year.
